About
My name is Trevor Jennings. I spent almost 15 years in the United States Air Force, as a Boom Operator on the KC-10. In this role, I flew over 200 combat missions, refueling fighter & bomber aircraft in Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn, Odyssey Dawn, Inherent Resolve, & Freedom’s Sentinel.
I flew only 2 missions in support of Operation Allies Refuge.
Operation Allies Refuge was the evacuation of Americans and Afghani people from Kabul. Thousands of Airmen, soldiers, sailors, and marines, worked for weeks to get over One Hundred twenty three Thousand plus people out of hostile. enemy territory.
I was but a tiny cog in a massive war machine, but that broke me.
The Anger, Rage, Shame, and Despair nearly destroyed me. I crawled in a bottle and wanted to die.
But, I am exceptionally blessed with a Loving Wife and Son.
The Air Force did its best to patch me up before giving me the boot, and one day in the treatment facility I was currently residing in, we did Art Therapy and I was given a mask, and told to paint myself.
And so I did.
And from that Anger, Rage, Shame, and Despair WarPAINt was born. But there were other feelings mixed in now, Love, Pride, Regret, subtle feelings that for so long had been overwhelmed by the Pain of War.
My name is WarPAINt.
I view my works as stories. I take elements of my everyday life, things my kid says while playing, something I hear on the radio, something I read, something from a story my wife told me, etc.
And from this Chaos, I create my work.
I do this with playing cards, cheap toy guns, play jewelry, plastic sprues from model kits and paint and ink.
I tell stories of Love & War.
I hope you like them.
